Children’s Sugarcraft Parties
I currently run cupcake decorating parties for children aged 6-teenage. I can accommodate younger children – message me to have a chat about this.
There are 2 options for the time scale of the party, and also the option of adding a buffet for the party goers.
Children’s cupcake party option 1 (£17.50 a head). The children make 4 cupcake toppers along a theme you choose. I’ll show them how to build the toppers, step by step, giving help wherever it’s needed. Once the toppers are finished, I’ll teach them how to pipe buttercream in different ways and then they will pipe on to four cupcakes I’ve baked for them. They will then transfer the toppers they made on to four of the cupcakes. This should take around 1.5 hours to complete, giving us a little wriggle room to run over if children need the extra time, and giving some time to blow candles out on a cake, give out party bags etc. We have the venue for 2 hours for the party.
Children’s cupcake party option 2 (£20 a head). The children make 6 cupcake toppers along a theme you choose. I’ll show them how to build all six toppers, step by step, giving them help wherever needed. Once the toppers are finished, I’ll teach them how to pipe buttercream in different ways and then they will pipe on six cupcakes I have baked for them. They will then transfer the toppers they made on top of the cupcakes. This will take up to two hours. If you would like to blow candles out on a a birthday cake, they’ll have time to do this at the end of the party.
Choice of venues
Venue 1- The Croft, 28 The Village, Church Road, Flixton, Manchester, M41 6HS
The hire of the venue is £30 for the duration of the party. We have it for the class for 2 hours, I’ll be there before and after to set up and tidy away. This venue comfortably seats 12, although it can accommodate up to 16 if needed. There is no food available for a party tea at this venue, but if you do want to bring a drink and a quick snack, there is usually time to have this at the end of the party, if making four cupcake toppers.
Venue 2- The Nebula Centre, The Old Vicarage, Manchester Road, M31 4AG
The hire of this venue is £20 for the duration of the party. We have it for two hours, I’ll be there before and after to set up and tidy away. This venue has two available rooms, one which seats 10 and the other up to 20. If you require party food, it can be provided by The Nebula Centre at £3.50 per head. You can discuss your requirements with the centre but it typically consists of sandwiches, cakes, fruit, salad items, crisps and a drink. The duration of a party with food at the centre is 2.5 hours, around up to two hours for decorating and half an hour for eating, with time to blow candles out on a cake.
Children’s Party Bags!
Party bags are available for children’s parties too. Again, two options (I like to give you choice!)
Party bag option 1 contains two laminated recipes so they can be used at home without worry of getting them messy- one for a delicious vanilla cupcake recipe and one for vanilla buttercream so your guests can recreate their cupcakes at home. It also has cupcake cases, sprinkles, a cutter and embosser that can be used to make cookies or cupcake toppers, a voucher for 10% off a future children’s class, and a custom made personalised cookie with a thank you message from the birthday boy or girl. This option is £5.
Party bag option 2 contains the same as option 1 with the addition of a piping tip that was used at the party, and disposable piping bags, so they can use their buttercream recipe to pipe on cupcakes at home. This option is £7.50.
Other useful information:
I ask for a minimum booking of 8 children. I can comfortably teach 12 children and give them the help they need, but if there are more than this it is helpful to have a couple of extra adults on hand to offer help if needed. This often depends on the confidence of the children, but it’s not entirely necessary. However, the children find it difficult to stay on task with lots of noise and distractions, so too many adults in the room doesn’t work.
If parents of the guests want to stay on site for the duration of the party, I would recommend choosing The Nebula Centre as the venue. They have an on site cafe with drinks, cakes and snacks, or they could even order afternoon tea for a child free treat! They are available to book at £13.50 a head.
The beauty of the cupcake parties is that you can choose the theme of the party. The only restriction on this is that I can’t make anything that has copyright attached, so no characters, TV shows, films, books, specific computer games…. However, we can work around these so for instance if you have a fan of a particular school boy wizard, I couldn’t do anything that specifically identifies the character, books or film, but we could make a bubbling cauldron, broomstick, wand, potion bottles….you get the idea. Other themes we have had in the past are under the sea, unicorns, dinosaurs, junk food, the jungle, pets, pirates, swimming, woodland….. I’ll do my best to accommodate whatever theme you would like.

In terms of booking and payment, I ask for the venue fee paid on booking which is non-refundable, then one week before the party I need the final numbers, and the theme if you haven’t already given it to me by then. I’ll send you an invoice and require that to be paid within 48 hours please.
